We, with our partners in conservation, actively manage our precious natural resources for our kids and grand kids and for the future of the wild turkey and all wildlife in Texas.

  • We recruit all kinds of hunters through our hunter education programs and mentored hunts.

  • We support public hunting access through lease programs.

  • We address legislative issues that impact hunter access and we work with landowners to provide greater access for hunting.

  • We embrace all outdoor enthusiasts of any age and encourage anyone to become a member of our growing family.

  • We believe in knowing where our food comes from and we value what we eat.

  • We work tirelessly to preserve our precious natural resources for all, especially our kids, our grand kids and generations to come.

  • We believe the outdoors is for everyone to enjoy.

Our Mission

The NWTF is dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage in Texas.

We exist to lead the preservation of hunting heritage by bringing together people who are passionate and steadfast about keeping American wildlife flourishing. We embrace the soul of the American hunting lifestyle

Our Promise:

We guarantee every NWTF endeavor will possess:

  • Scientific Basis – a grounding in sound principles based on the best available empirical evidence.

  • Inclusion – an attitude and approach that invites and welcomes all people who support conscientious wildlife-oriented lifestyles.

  • Altruism – selfless generosity based on our gratefulness for being granted a role within nature.

  • Mutuality – equal consideration to the well-being of wildlife and people through a lifestyle that best benefits both.

  • Pragmatism – respectful of the well-beaten path to success yet open to new proven methods.

  • Reverence – respect for natural laws, divine principles and the gift of all life.

We’re warm and knowledgeable outdoor enthusiasts rooted in science, an unwavering sense of gratitude and the potential of working together.

The NWTF is different from others:

  • The only conservation organization dedicated to the health of hunting practice as a means of sustainable sustenance and a grounded lifestyle (Body and Spirit).

  • The only conservation organization with a focus on the complete well-being of all American wildlife (Habitat to Harvest).

  • Foundational importance on divine faith and the sacredness of family (Creation and Sharing).

The National Wild Turkey Federation in Texas has an incredible mission, a history of success and most importantly, and an incredibly bright future.

As the conservation organization that collaborated with wildlife agencies to restore the wild turkey and all wildlife across the State and the country, we are building on our past success and forging paths to make a greater impact in the future.

Similar to a stream that passes through the Hill Country, we, too, are picking up momentum as we work to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.

At the halfway point of the 10 year initiative, we are achieving our goals and more, but there is still much work to do.

Will you help us conserve our hunting heritage and Texas wildlife for future generations?

Texans in Nashville, February 14-18, 2024

Here are a few Texans who are involved in the National Wild Turkey Federation in Texas and are making a big difference in healthy habitats and healthy harvests.

They became NWTF members because of their love for all wildlife in Texas and to help conserve our precious natural resources for our kids and grand kids in this great State.

If you know someone who hunts or just loves the outdoors, let them know about the good work the NWTF is doing in Texas and encourage them to get involved.

Robert (Bob) Linder

Robert Linder of Marble Falls, Texas, was selected to receive the prestigious Roger Latham Award at the 2016 NWTF National Convention, held annually in Nashville, Tennessee.  This award is emblematic of Robert's long-standing dedication and tireless efforts as a volunteer on behalf of NWTF, both in Texas and at the national level.

“I am honored to receive this award for a cause and an organization that is near and dear to my heart.”

Dorothy McCarver

“At our chapter's first WITO event ten years ago, I shot a shotgun for the first time. I was 49 years old. A few months later, my husband gave me a 20-gauge Red Label Ruger Over/Under shotgun for my 50th birthday. I am now approaching my 60th birthday and enjoy competing in skeet, trap and five-stand competitions and have become a certified shotgun instructor and help coach our county's 4-H Shooting Sports Project group. Three more shotguns have been added to my gun collection. My granddaughter calls me "Shotgun Granny!"

Dale Bounds

“I've been turkey hunting for 25 years, and have considered myself a wild turkey freak for 15 years. The anticipation of closing the deal while hunting a gobbler is about all I can stand!”

Paul Korthuis

“I’m new to the NWTF. I’m not a hunter. I didn’t know anything about it until a few years ago. That’s when I learned about all the things the NWTF does beyond hunting such as; land and habitat management, conservation of our natural resources, and responsible wildlife management of more than the wild turkey. I’m still not a hunter but I appreciate the NWTF’s conservation movement that strives to preserve our precious natural resources for my kids, my grand kids and our future generations.”

A big ol’ Texas thanks to our calendar sponsor!
